A cracked tooth, a throbbing toothache, or a tooth knocked loose never happens at a good time. When it does, call Siena Dental at (737) 766-7226. We hold time for same-day emergency visits Monday through Thursday, and you don’t need to be an existing patient to be seen.
When to Call Us Right Away
If you’re not sure whether it’s an emergency, call. We’d rather hear from you early than see a small problem turn into a bigger one. Call us for:
- Severe or throbbing tooth pain
- A knocked-out or loose tooth
- A cracked, chipped, or broken tooth
- Swelling in your face, jaw, or gums
- A pimple-like bump on your gums, which can signal an abscess
- A lost filling or crown
- Bleeding that won’t stop after an injury or extraction
If you have swelling that makes it hard to breathe or swallow, or a serious injury to your face or jaw, go to the nearest emergency room first.
What to Do Before Your Visit
Knocked-Out Tooth
Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently, and try to put it back in the socket. If you can’t, keep it in a small container of milk and call us immediately. A tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour.
Broken or Chipped Tooth
Rinse your mouth with warm water and save any pieces you find. Hold a cold compress on your cheek to keep swelling down.
Toothache
Rinse with warm salt water and floss gently to clear anything stuck between your teeth. Don’t put aspirin directly on your gums, as it can burn the tissue.
Lost Filling or Crown
Keep the crown if you have it and bring it with you. Avoid chewing on that side until we can see you.
What Happens at Your Emergency Visit
First, we find out what’s wrong. Your dentist examines the area and takes digital X-rays, or a 3D CBCT scan when we need a closer look. Then we explain what we found and what we recommend, including the cost, before starting treatment.
Our first goal is to get you out of pain. Because Siena Dental is a one-stop office, we can usually handle the treatment you need in the same place, including:
- Fillings and bonding for chipped or cracked teeth
- Crowns to protect a broken tooth
- Root canals to treat infection and save the tooth
- Extractions when a tooth can’t be saved
- Dental implants to replace a tooth that’s lost
If you feel anxious, let us know. We offer sedation dentistry to help you stay calm during treatment.
