Our Gum Disease Treatments
Deep Cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing)
We clean below the gumline to remove the plaque and tartar buildup that causes infection, then smooth the root surfaces so your gums can reattach. We numb the area first for comfort.
Antibiotic Therapy
For deeper pockets, we can place antibiotics directly in the gum or prescribe them to help control the infection alongside your deep cleaning.
Gum Surgery
When pockets are too deep for cleaning alone, gum surgery lets us reach and clean the roots directly and reshape the tissue so it’s easier to keep healthy.
Gum Grafting
If your gums have receded, a gum graft covers exposed roots, reduces sensitivity, and protects against more recession. We use tissue from your own mouth.
Crown Lengthening
We gently reshape the gum and, if needed, bone to expose more of a tooth. This can make room for a crown or even out a gummy smile, and it can often be done in one visit.
Why Gum Health Matters
Gum disease has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and other health conditions. Keeping your gums healthy protects your smile and supports your overall health. After treatment, we’ll recommend a maintenance schedule, often cleanings every three to four months, to keep gum disease under control.
When Teeth Can't Be Saved
If gum disease has loosened a tooth too much to save, we can remove it and plan a replacement, often with a bone graft and a dental implant, all in our office.

Is a deep cleaning painful?
We numb the area first, so most patients feel little discomfort. Your gums may be tender for a few days afterward. -
Can gum disease be cured?
Gingivitis can be reversed. Periodontitis can't be fully undone, but it can be controlled with treatment and regular maintenance. -
How often will I need cleanings after treatment?
Usually every three to four months at first, to keep bacteria from building back up below the gumline. -
