A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by literally bridging the gap. It’s a fixed, natural-looking restoration that doesn’t come out, and it can usually be finished in just a couple of visits.
How a Bridge Works
A traditional bridge has a replacement tooth, called a pontic, held between two crowns. The crowns fit over the healthy teeth on either side of the gap, which anchor the bridge in place. Bridges are made from porcelain or zirconia and shaded to match your smile.
Types of Bridges
Traditional Bridge
The most common option, anchored by crowns on the teeth next to the gap. It’s strong and works well when those teeth already need crowns or large fillings.
Implant-Supported Bridge
Instead of relying on natural teeth, the bridge is anchored to dental implants. This is a good choice for replacing several teeth in a row, and it doesn’t require crowning healthy teeth.
Your dentist will recommend the right design based on where the gap is, how many teeth are missing, and the health of the teeth around it.
Bridge or Implant?
A bridge usually costs less up front and doesn’t require surgery. An implant doesn’t involve the neighboring teeth and helps keep the jawbone from shrinking. We’ll lay out both options honestly so you can choose.
Getting Your Bridge
Request AppointmentFirst visit
We prepare the anchor teeth, take digital impressions, and place a temporary bridge.
Second visit
We fit your permanent bridge, check your bite, and cement it in place.
Caring for Your Bridge
Brush twice a day and clean under the pontic every day with a floss threader or water flosser, since food can collect there. Regular cleanings help keep the anchor teeth and gums healthy, which is what keeps your bridge secure.
